A warm welcome from The Full SET
Forest School Leader

About

About

Our workspace is always outside (rain or shine!). We run Forest School sessions at different forest schools, schools, nurseries and care homes within Surrey. All of our sessions are learner-led; we provide different opportunities and experiences for learners to discover their independence through choosing what and how to take part in while we are there to support them. We create a non-judgemental, safe and nurturing environment, enabling the learners to develop intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically.

Nowadays, children spend so much time indoors focussing on screens, it becomes overwhelming. Playing in the outdoor environment has a positive impact on children - it creates better peer-to-peer relationships, gives them a greater sense of self-awareness, reduces the risk of mental illness, gives them appreciation for the environment and much more.

Although not done in every session, on occasions we encourage the learners to take supported risks (such as fire-lighting, tree climbing and tool use), which allows them to grow by challenging themselves and solving problems. This builds their resilience and gives them a sense of achievement.

‘Blake absolutely loves the Forest After-School Club. As a boy who isn’t fond of football, he often finds it challenging to fit in. It’s heartwarming to see him so excited about going to school on Thursdays for the club. Thank you for making it such an enjoyable experience for him.’
